Hey hey!
I forgot I had this blog. I also constantly forget that I have twitter, instagram, vine, a facebook page... a WEBSITE for my company - like I said in the title, "I'm terrible with social media".
If just feels like a giant waste of time, really, unless you're a well-known creative.
A well-known creative, I am not.
Shuttup, Yoda. You're only there cuz I had an image of you I posted on a forum for a guy hoping to be surprised by episode 7.
When you post a photo to Facebook on October 21, 2015 of you dressed as Marty, next to your company co-creator, and best pal, dressed as Doc, and are BLOWN AWAY by 39 likes... you are not great with social media.
Yes...that's a lightsaber on my belt. I was drunk.
For example, my wife can post a pic of a leaf and get 112 likes.
Now a lot of that is a popularity contest (which my wife would win against me any day) but I think a BIG part of the social media scene is consistency.
If a started a blog on Who was REALLY the Boss, Tony or Angela, and did a commentary on each episode, and opinionated and tally'd up my results... and tally'd the votes of viewers, but only got 3 episodes in before losing interest... well why would anyone follow? Why would it grow and find an audience? Would it have even found one?
Why write this blog? Who's reading? A random RPF member who see's this blog as a link in my profile?
Is it found cuz one person likes City Shark and does a search? Suppose that did/does happen... what do they think of a blog that has its last post dated 6 months ago.
I just looked to see what I last blogged about, and I haven't even posted the latest City in Crisis eps!
Oh. Here they are... all five of them... Enjoy?
Oh well that was fun, eh? Wanna see more.
Oh it's happening. I have written 5 episodes with my co-creator, and it's going into animation as of today. I'll try and be more media savvy this time, cuz... well... I'm trying not to be lazy about my career. I've done pretty well for myself as a guy who gives it about 40%... imagine if I could get it to 47%.
Anyway, here's a sneak peek!
Oh... and I actually own this site: www.whowastheboss.com
Yup.
FADE IN...

Watch this vid while do do other stuff....
Remember when you were a kid in elementary school and you would arrive to class and see that GLORIOUS film projector or TV VCR?
Well this is one of those days.
I'm struggling to finish a script I'm writing for pennies, and so haven't been into writing this blog much - though I have a LOT of posts I want to cover...
Anyway, a huge part of being in the entertainment industry (for me, anyway) is to watch and learn from others... This vid I just watched was very insightful and inspiring... so sit down and watch this while I "grade papers" (write a script about surfer kids)
Next article: Probably about City in Crisis!

Surfs up, Brah! - Writing a script for something you know NOTHING about...
While I would LOVE to only write on my own projects, I more often than not have to write on other peoples projects in order to get credits and/or make connections...
The project currently on my plate is the latter.... and it's not going to be an easy script.
I met the creator of this current project through Mondo. I was hired by Mondo to work on another of his scripts, and it went well (between him and me, anyway) and so he asked if I could help put together a pitch for this other show. Well now we're at the point when it's time to write a pilot, and I agreed to do it. There's a smaaaaall problem though...
The show centers around two surfers.
Oh and it may be translated into french.
But dealing with the first problem... I've never really surfed - other than in Tofino one time... and then it was mostly just me sitting on the board or drowning...
... and I don't know many surfers. I have a feeling though that I need to be adding slang, and that surfer like chit-chat you see in tween Disney shows that take place on a beach.
I'm not going to lie... day one of sitting down and writing, I started to panic.
"Yo brah, lets catch this bitchin wave brah"
I dunno.
So tonight I'm going to download "Surfs up"...
And watch "Chasing Mavericks"....
I HOPE these will give me better insight into surf culture, and let me write a script that doesn't sound as stupid as I'm worried it's sounding in my head right now.
Cowabunga, duuuude.

Mark your calendars! Episode 2 tomorrow!
Looking forward to tomorrow!
Hoping the momentum keeps up... that the next 4 episodes only grow the series. I feel if the viewers get to episode 3, we're gonna have a REAL winner here.
Here's hoping!

City in Crisis GOES LIVE!
Not going to lie... I was extremely nervous about the release of my first co-created show. The internet is a hard, harsh place...
but July 4th it went up...
While America was enjoying some red, white and blue, City in Crisis episode 1 went up on the Mondo youtube page.
I woke up around 1:00 PM that day (I'm a late riser) and immediately checked youtube. There it was. I scrolled down to the comments expecting a gong show of hate...
You see, the show isn't EXACTLY what I was expecting. While it turned out fine, it wasn't how I originally saw it in my head. So mix that with having seen it a few hundred times, I kind of had no idea if it was working at all. If I had to place bets, I would assume it was a failure.
Of course there were a few detractors...

But the comments weren't half bad... at all... in fact they were mostly positive.
im intrigued, make more!
Sharks voice is gorgeous. PLS make series of this.
I'm just gonna come out and say it, I'd love for just this to be the entire thing. Just every time its the two of them having awkward conversation on a rooftop
I give a greenlight to this
This was great, really fun
Love it. 9/10
I like it - a lot of random dialogue from one topic to the next. :)
Of course there were a few detractors...
how did this idea get passed the brainstorming phase? Its like they gave a turd consciousness and asked it for some ideas.......
So as of today it is sitting at 41,000 views with 2000 likes and 130 or so dislikes.
So I'd say we're doing okay...
HERE IT BE!
Episode 2 goes up Saturday, and then one every week til we burn out the 5 episodes.

On Script Notes....
So I handed in the latest draft of the show I was hired to write...
I got my notes back "It's still a little flat IMO"
I have written this script so many times I can't keep count (even though it says 5th draft... it's more). I don't get it. I don't get what they want. They keep telling me to write it like my other stuff - but it's exactly like my other stuff...
I feel like this guy...
I'm gonna curl in a ball now. If crying is good for the soul, sobbing uncontrollably must be even better...

City in Crisis through a Green Prism...
Well as of Sunday night, "City in Crisis" is done and delivered!
Thanks to seeing it a million times during production, it's hard to gauge if something you've created is working on any level by the time it's done. Just the way it goes... So what's the solution?
Well I have one... some may not like it.
I went to my basement, cued it up on the biggest TV, shut off the lights, and (most importantly) I got baked.
It's nothing new, but I've always said that watching something stoned is like watching it for the first time. You notice shit you might not notice otherwise, and can step outside your usual expectations.
So I watched all 5 episodes - which run about 4 minutes - in a row, and just took it all in.
Verdict?
Well, I think it's pretty good anyway... ha.
Nothing like laughing at your own jokes. Of course a lot of the laughs were due to my great voice talent, who also came up with some gem's along the way.
After that little viewing, I'm more confident in screening it for the studio I work at. Sure there may be crickets, but I REALLY feel like I need that experience. I need to see an audience either laugh or flat-out hate something I've done. Either reaction will be entertaining!
Will link to the project when it goes live on Mondo next week.
